Thirty years ago the city of Orlando was a small town surrounded by miles of swampland and mired in the heat and humidity of central Florida. Today it is a tourist "Mecca" and known on every continent of the globe. What made the difference? When a well-known mouse took up residence in Orlando, it seemed that whole world quickly followed. Today, your Orlando hotel may be on the grounds of a movie studio or a theme park. In fact, your hotel in Orlando may have a theme of its own. You may be staying in a haunted mansion, a lodge from the old American West, or a vision of the next century. It makes little difference though, since no one spends very much time in the Orlando hotels.

It is possible, of course, to spend an entire vacation and never leave the grounds of Disneyworld. Aptly named, Walt Disney's dream is far more than an amusement park. It is a collection of three major theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM Studios) two water parks, and a series of smaller attractions. The Disney complex is home to some of the most amazing hotels in Orlando, five golf courses, dozens of restaurants and Pleasure Island, an adult complex of nightclubs that comes alive after the sun goes down.

But Orlando is much bigger than Disneyworld. Universal Studios Florida is a fully functional motion picture studio where blockbuster movies and world famous television programs are filmed. Sea World provides adventure of a different kind. Part aquarium, part zoo, and part theme park; your family will be both entertained and educated during your visit.

Amusement parks aside, Orlando has a great deal to offer it's visitors. Several museums, including an impressive trio of Art Museums, provide enjoyment for those who prefer culture over thrill. Its status as a tourist center has attracted leading restaurateurs from across the United States. And the natural beauty of the state of Florida provides ample opportunities for recreation. Orlando is less than two hours away from both of Florida's coasts.

Often perceived as a tourist spot for families, Orlando offers a sunny welcome to seniors, newlyweds, singles and all who enjoy the opportunity to escape and unwind.
